Evolve or Repeat
"The times are too grave, the challenge too urgent, and the stakes too high — to permit the customary passions of political debate. We are not here to curse the darkness, but to light the candle that can guide us through that darkness to a safe and sane future." –JFK
We each have a solution. It's the choice to turn towards Light and away from the darkness.
Especially, in the midst of any situation where we might feel we don't have choices. I've spent a lifetime becoming free of many long standing beliefs which I thought I didn't have a choice.
For Instance...
The belief I could not live a sober existence. I mean everybody drinks right? That wouldn't be cool... to not be hip enough to go have a drink after work, smoke a little pot or basically fit in with "The Fun" people.
I finally realized that I did have a choice. I was able to recover from a hopeless state of mind and body. Long story... But true!
Now...life is to discover where my "thinking" can become distorted without knowing it.
I must remember.... If I become stuck and feel I do not have a choice...I do my best to reach out for help. For me I've learned I have to act my way into a new way of thinking and being.
I have been working all week on what I think about. I feel better when I stand in the light... literally and figuratively. If I think about fear, anger or hopelessness my energy feels drained and it's hard to function. Momentum gathers behind what I choose to focus on.
My conclusion to all of this:
It seems to me you can become just as addicted to fear, negativity and your own thoughts as much as you can become addicted to alcohol or drugs.
They both can be an illusion of reality.
I can drink and create the illusion that I'm happier. I can think fearful thoughts and scare the crap out of myself.
Ultimately, the final frontier is the journey within.
So much noise out there.... however, I think it's really a reflection of our internal noise within.
Today if I want the noise to stop, I will do my part to look at what noise I am contributing to the world. Amen.
Be kind to one another. Shine Brightly!
